The event is&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;free and open to the public. Reporters are invited to attend.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;For the past 25 years, Cheri Honkala, who was herself once homeless,&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;has been a leading advocate for the poor and homeless in the US. She&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;co-founded the Kensington Welfare Rights Union and the Poor People&amp;#8217;s&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;Economic Human Rights Campaign. In 2011, Ms. Honkala ran for Sheriff&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;of Philadelphia on an anti-foreclosure platform. (More about Ms.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;Honkala: &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.jillstein.org/cheri_honkala" id="yui_3_2_0_7_1349139291035461" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;span id="lw_1349139304_6"&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.jillstein.org/cheri_honkala"&gt;http://www.jillstein.org/cheri_honkala&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span&gt;)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;On August 1, Dr. Stein, Ms. Honkala, and three others were arrested&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;during a sit-in at a Philadelphia bank to protest foreclosures on&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;behalf of city residents struggling to keep their homes.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;DC Statehood Green Party candidates running for office in the District&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;will also be present. The forum takes the place of the Statehood Green&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;Party&amp;#8217;s monthly general assembly, which is held on the first Thursday&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;span&gt;of every month.
